I always wondered if consuming too much caffeine was bad for your health. And the answer is not really, unless you consume a great deal per day. Consuming between 200 and 300 mg of caffeine should not hurt you, but this depends on each person. Consuming over 500 mg is very toxic to the body. An 8 ounce cup of brewed coffee contains anywhere from 60 - 120 mg of caffeine. However, caffeine causes dehydration, increased urination, jittery or anxious feelings and insomnia. For these reasons, I decided to decrease my caffeine intake. Now I only drink coffee every once in a while (usually if I’m with a friend who drinks coffee), but not every day like I used to. Here are some ways effective ways to increase your energy without caffeine.
Ways to increase your energy
Eat less food- When you eat a lot of food, your body has to work hard to digest it. All of this hard work requires energy, leaving you feeling tired.
Drink more water - This is always good. Water is the number one nutrient you can take. Not only does drinking water give you more energy, it also cleanses and washes away toxins in your body.
Get more sleep- This seems pretty obvious. Schedule some more time to sleep. We live in a society where it seems we have so much to do in so little time, but sleep is still important.
Make a schedule- Making a schedule always help. When you do this, it helps preserve the energy you have because you are not stressed and worried about when and how you are going to make everything happen.
Drink caffeine free energy drink - Sometimes when I need an extra boost, I drink a caffeine free energy drink that contains vitamin B and taste great.
